This Guy Stole Lady Gaga’s Dogs, Shot The Handler, Went To Jail For Attempted Murder But Was Accidentally Released, And Now A SWAT Team Captured Him Again

A 19-year-old has been on the run since stealing Lady Gaga’s dogs, shooting the handler, landing in jail and getting accidentally released in April. This Wednesday, he was finally caught again in Palmdale, California.

James Howard Jackson was sentenced to four years in prison for attempted murder while stealing Lady Gaga’s French bulldogs. The dog handler, Ryan Fischer, was walking through Hollywood with the superstar singer’s dogs when he was shot with a handgun. The bullet went completely through his neck. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to the United States Marshal’s Office. Two of the dogs were stolen.

Two other attackers were involved and police later arrested five people in total that had a connection to the robbery, says the United States Marshal’s Office. Two of the people were charged as accessories to the crime. James Howard Jackson, Jaylin White, and Lafayette Whaley were charged with attempted murder, second-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

However, Jackson was mistakenly released from custody due to a clerical error. “Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are seeing assistance locating James Jackson, who is wanted for an attempted murder that occurred in the city of Los Angeles on February 24, 2021,” an official release read.

It continues: “On April 6, 2022, Jackson was released due to a clerical error. The United States Marshal’s Service are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Jackson’s arrest,” asking informants to contact the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau. “The two agencies worked together and spent the next four months extensively searching for Suspect Jackson,” according to a news release.

Law enforcement ended up needing a SWAT team to apprehend Jackson, who was reportedly armed. According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, investigators executed a search warrant and arrested Jackson. Further details were not immediately available.

An armoured truck responded to the scene, as captured by the Twitter account of the “high-risk tactical and rescue teams,” A.K.A. the Special Enforcement Bureau, of the LASD.

Additionally, a task force was put on the case and they meant business. The USMS Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force says its mission is “apprehension of fugitives wanted for egregious crimes against the community, while ensuring the application of equal justice for all.”

Meanwhile, Jaylin White, who was involved in the robbery, was sentenced this Wednesday. The punishment is four years in prison, according to Deputy District Attorney Michele Hanisee. She also said White made a plea that resulted in three serious charges being dismissed (attempted murder, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, and conspiracy to commit robbery).
