The Toronto superstar is no stranger to using his platform to help others

Just within the last year, The Weeknd donated over $3 Million dollars to various philanthropic efforts, including $1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme, (WFP) alone.

This helped WFP provide two million meals to citizens in Ethiopia, his parent’s home country.

“The U.N. World Food Programme is doing urgent and important work to change and save lives on a daily basis and I feel passionately about addressing world hunger and helping people in need,” the “Blinding Lights,” Starboy said in a statement.

“Our partnership is an authentic extension of all our efforts and intentions to help those in need and bring an end to so much suffering.”

This news comes just a few weeks after the artist accepted the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at the Black Music Action Coalition Awards in Hollywood on Friday, Sept. 24.
