Public schools in Ontario are reporting the highest single-day number of new coronavirus cases this year.
According to CP24, The Ministry of Education announced that there were 252 new school-related cases in the last 24 hours.
Active cases hit well above the 2,000 mark since the third wave, even though the province has been accelerating in relief efforts and even administered 24 million doses to Ontarians.
Additionally, 22% of kids, aged five to 11, have already gotten a first dose of the vaccine. What’s more, the province hopes to get that number to 50% by the end of December before kids return to classes by January.
Last week, the province reported 185 new cases, however, today’s numbers have reportedly seen a 36% increase.
The number of infections has reached 2,016 over the past year.
