Hidden Gems: Road Runner Flips A Classic Indian Sample In His Brand New Song And Video For ‘Trapistan’

Road Runner is one of the most popular artists in Toronto’s underground scene because of his ability to create songs like “Trapistan”. Ever since coming into the game, in 2019, Runner has kept his focus on creating the best music possible.

Earlier this year, he told Complex Canada that he was working on a brand new album called Trapistan. He shared that the project would be a little more upbeat than his latest project Forever Alone EP. He also shared that being at home has helped him write some of the best music of his life.

Road Runner has been dropping very consistently and is continuing to build hype for his project release. Now, fans can be even more excited, because he just released “Trapistan“, the title track of the project, with an accompanying music video.

The new single features a flip of a sample from the Indian song “Tu Jaane Na”, which makes it unique.

As soon as the song starts, fans know they can expect a dramatic banger. In addition to the vocal sample, the song begins with somber piano melodies. Then, we are introduced to powerful chords as Runner begins singing.

Once the drums come in, it’s easy to tell that they will complement the pockets that Road Runner’s vocals fit in. The drums fit behind and add to the cinematic feel of the whole song and video.

The music video for “Trapistan” was taken care of by Mikita and Tango who created a powerful and aesthetic visual to accompany the song. It flips between solo shots of Road Runner and scenes of his crew riding in luxury vehicles.

The quick and glitchy edits are eye-capturing and add to the visual’s impact.
