BREAKING: Canada Is Boycotting The Beijing Games Along With Other Nations Because Of Genocide Allegations Against Uyghur Muslims In China

Canada just joined a list of powerful nations that have decided not to support the Beijing Games by not sending any political officials, including PM Justin Trudeau.

This move is due to the fact that China has come under fire over the years for allegations of genocide and human rights violations against the Muslim Uyghur minority that live in China’s Xinjiang province.

“Canada remains deeply disturbed by reports of human rights violations in China,” Trudeau tweeted Wednesday.

Advocates believe that China has captured over a million Uyghurs in a bid to “re-educate” them and rid them of their Islamic faith and practices.

According to the BBC, there is also proof that Muslims are being used for labour and that women have been sterilized.

In the last couple of years, more allegations have come out about prisoners being tortured and sexually abused against their will.

To date, China has steadily denied any wrongdoings.

The U.S was the first country to announce its boycott, followed by Australia and the U.K who quickly jumped on the bandwagon.

Today, Canada joins that list in icing out the country.

However, athletes will still participate in the games.
