On Thursday morning, at approximately 8:30 a.m., workers discovered what potentially may be human remains at a construction a site near Sheppard Avenue West in the Downsview neighbourhood.
Authorities say security guards discovered a potential human body while inspecting a Metrolinx-related construction site south of Downsview Park GO Station at the northern end of Toronto.
A spokesman said it was unclear how long the body had been there, or whether the case was being treated as a criminal case. They also added that they were waiting for further information from the coroner’s office.
A spokesman for Metrolinx said construction workers are currently working in the Downsview Park Boulevard area with the aim of increasing rail capacity on the Barry line.
A representative then said that security guards checking the boundaries of the site made the discovery.
While Toronto Police and 32 Division detectives currently investigate the construction site, work at the site has been suspended indefinitely.
