America Just Eased Restrictions On The US-Canada Land Border For The First Time In Almost Two Years But Canadians Aren’t Rushing Over The Border Just Yet

Ever since March 2020, the US-Canada land border has been restricted for Canadians, at least until now.

For the first time in 20 months, non-essential land travel to the US is now available to fully vaccinated Canadians.

This comes months after vaccinated US citizens have been able to come over to Canada by land.

Canadians, as long as they are fully vaccinated, will be able to travel over the land border to our southern neighbour.

The problems come in when you’re trying to get back home though. In order to be able to come back to Canada, Canadians will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test, despite needing to be fully vaccinated to cross the border in the first place.

This test is expensive and is actually a reason why some Canadians are still hesitant to use the land border.

For comparison, US citizens who cross the border don’t have to get a Covid test when they go back to their side of the border.

Canada’s chief medical officer, Dr. Theresa Tam said that the federal government is aware of the complaints people have about the tests and that the requirement is under review.
