On Wednesday, Air Canada announced that it would make it mandatory for all of its employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
All employees must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 30, and those who do not comply can face termination or unpaid leave.
The news release by Air Canada stated that being vaccinated against the virus has become one of the conditions of employment for new employees.
There will be exceptions and accommodations provided for those individuals that cannot be vaccinated due to medical conditions.
The airline’s decision comes following the mandate released by the federal government, which requires all employees in the transportation sector to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of October.
Air Canada also stated that testing would not count as an alternative to the vaccine.
