A Brampton Man Was Charged With Attempted Murder After Hitting 2 Police Cars And Driving Off

Several Ontario Provincial Police vehicles sustained heavy damage after a highway chase with a runaway driver. The OPP states that they attempted to stop a vehicle for multiple HTA (Highway Traffic Act) violations.

The driver did not stop when the officers tried to pull him over and that’s when a chase began. It ended after the driver damaged two OPP vehicles and crashed into a commercial property.

Luckily, no officers sustained any injuries. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was brought to a hospital under police custody. The passenger of the runaway vehicle didn’t sustain any injuries and was taken directly into police custody.

The driver of the runaway vehicle was later identified as Jaspuneet Bajwa, a 29 year old from Brampton.

It is thought that Bajwa was leaving the scene of a robbery that he committed and was in possession of robbery equipment and stolen items.

Bajwa has been charged with

  • Attempted murder
  • Obstruction of a peace officer
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Possession of break and enter instruments
  • Dangerous driving
  • Flight from police
  • Failure to comply with court order
