Thunder Bay Amber Alert Ends with Child's Safe Return, Suspect in Custody

An Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday afternoon in Thunder Bay after an eight-year-old boy was abducted by a 28-year-old man the evening before.

The alert prompted a search, culminating with the command post set up in John Street and Valley Street.

The urgent search ended happily when the suspect was located in a rural area of Thunder Bay's north side at around 8:15 pm and arrested without incident. The abducted child was also found safe at around 8:30 pm, to the immense relief of all involved.

The 28-year-old suspect has been charged with abduction, forcible confinement and breach of a release order. No further details about the circumstances surrounding his capture or the child's location have been released.
