This Guy Found A Company Cheque For Several Million Dollars On The Floor, So He Contacted The Rightful Owners – They Sent Him A Few Gummy Bears As Thanks

Have you ever done the right thing and felt worse about it? This man returned several million dollars and now he's pissed. A German man found a $6.4 million dollar (CAD) cheque laying on the floor of a train station. He contacted the rightful owners and cooperated. As thanks, they sent him some gummy bears.

«I thought that was a bit cheap,» the German told a tabloid, which was then reported by the Independent.

The 38-year-old was returning from visiting his mother. While at the train station, he found the cheque written for €4,631,538.80, or upwards of $6.4 million Canadian dollars. It was apparently discarded and unattended. The money was addressed to Haribo, a huge company best known for making gummy bears and other candy. Rewe, a German supermarket, were the ones paying Haribo.

All in all, the man told the tabloid that he couldn't believe his eyes when he realized how much it was worth. «There was such a large sum on it that I couldn't even pronounce it,» he said.

The German decided to be a good Samaritan by reaching out to Haribo, informing them that he found the cheque. The company asked him to destroy it and to send proof that the cheque no longer existed. The man cooperated.

About a week later, he received Haribo products in the mail — six packs of gummies. However, it only caused him to complain about it not really measuring up to the stress he had saved the company from.

Haribo sent him a «standard package that we send as a thank you,» according to the company, which then added that «since it was a named check, nobody but our company could have redeemed it.»
