Speeding Car Soars Through The Air, Propelled By A Tow Truck Ramp On A Highway
The shocking incident was captured on bodycam footage while deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office were responding to a crash along Highway 84 in southern Georgia on May 24.
The video begins with police standing near an overturned vehicle on one side of the highway's center median and a car rapidly approaching the tow truck parked on the opposite side. Astonishingly, as soon as it reaches the truck, it launches off its lowered ramp and propels itself into the sky.
Remarkably, once it came down again, it landed uprightówithout flipping overódespite its velocity. The deputy immediately ran towards it and requested emergency medical services (EMS). In addition to debris scattered across the highway, a second vehicle was reportedly thrown 23 feet by impact after being hit by the hurdling car.
The driver of this car that flew through the air survived with serious injuries, according to Georgia State Patrol officers who spoke with WSB-TV. An incident report also noted that the car jumped approximately 120 feet over the tow truck while landing.
Furthermore, a Lowndes County sheriff's deputy was taken to hospital for treatment after being struck by debris from this accident. It is unclear what caused this initial crash or if any charges will be filed against those involved in this second accident.
