Seth MacFarlane Quits 'Family Guy' and 'American Dad!'

Renowned writer and actor Seth MacFarlane has made the decision to depart from both of his long-running animated comedy shows, "Family Guy" and "American Dad!", in support of the ongoing dispute between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Hollywood studios.

MacFarlane's departure comes after 21 seasons of "Family Guy" and during the production of the twentieth season of "American Dad!".

MacFarlane is among a group of writers and stars, including Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, and Jonah Hill, who have joined picket lines in solidarity with the WGA.

The writers' strike began in November as negotiations between the guild and major studios faltered over pay disputes for streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. The lack of fair compensation for work on these platforms has caused significant tension within the industry.

The studio behind MacFarlane's shows, 20th Television, is currently devising plans for production without his involvement.

Deadline reports that there are already three months' worth of scripts and voiceovers recorded for "American Dad!", which may allow production to continue until the current agreement expires next summer.

However, the future of "Family Guy" remains uncertain without its creator's presence.
