Passenger Taken into Custody for Opening Plane Door During South Korea Flight

On Friday, panic and chaos erupted in the cabin of an Asiana Airlines Airbus A321 aircraft after a passenger aboard the plane opened an emergency exit door while still in flight.

The plane, carrying 194 passengers from Jeju Island to Daegu, was at an altitude of about 700 feet when the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses described the moment as chaotic and terrifying. One passenger on board, a 44-year-old man, said,

"I thought the plane was going to explode. I thought I was going to die like that."

The mother of another passenger reported that "the children were trembling and crying in panic." At least a dozen people were slightly injured by the jolts caused by the sudden change in air pressure due to the door opening.

The suspect in the incident has been identified as a man in his thirties and was arrested upon landing at Daegu International Airport.

Witnesses also stated that he had attempted to jump out of the plane before being restrained by other passengers and crew members. Authorities indicated that he had confessed to opening the door but had refused to explain why he had done it.
