Man Arrested for Alleged Dual Home Invasions in Greater Toronto Area

Toronto police have arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Yousef Babiker, in connection with two home invasions that occurred in the Greater Toronto Area, including one that happened near Shuter and Parliament streets on May 12th.

According to police reports, the suspect had contacted a sex trade worker and arranged a meeting at her residence. When arriving for the pre-arranged meeting, he allegedly entered the home and brandished a handgun while demanding cash. Since the victim did not possess any money, she informed him of this which subsequently caused him to flee empty-handed.

Following a thorough investigation conducted by both Toronto police's Hold Up Squad and Peel Region Police's Criminal Investigative Bureau, Babiker was taken into custody on May 13th and released on bail later that day.

However upon further investigation linking him to the Toronto home invasion case, he was re-arrested on May 19th and is now facing eight charges ranging from robbery with a firearm to other alleged crimes. Investigators further believe there may be more victims out there who have yet to come forward.

Police are urging anyone who may have potentially been impacted or has information pertaining to Babiker's whereabouts or activities leading up to his arrest to contact Toronto Police immediately. Images of the accused have been released in order to identify him accurately.
