Edmonton Tragedy: 2 Police Officers Killed During Domestic Call, Suspect Dead and 1 Hospitalized

Early Thursday morning, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) responded to a domestic dispute call in the Inglewood neighbourhood of Edmonton and confronted a male suspect who opened fire on two patrol members, killing them both.

Constables Travis Jordan, aged 35, and Brett Ryan, aged 30, were declared dead at the hospital after valiant efforts to save their lives by colleagues on the scene.

The male suspect is also dead, believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while a female of unknown age is in hospital with life-threatening injuries but was in stable condition at 10 am.

EPS Chief Dale McFee called the deaths of two west-end patrol members an "unthinkable and horrific tragedy." He praised the bravery of police officers and asked for patience from the public as investigations continue.

McFee also emphasized that EPS was still determined to do its job despite the tragedy.

"Our members are today, even in the face of tragedy, at work protecting our city. This is what police officers do every day. Even when they understand the risks that they face. We are grateful for their ongoing commitment even in the face of tragedy."

"As a police chief, I just want to tell you how humbled and proud of our members who continue to serve our community, this community, under such horrific circumstances."

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and EPS families of those affected.
