Australian Exhibit Now Offers Ultra-Realistic VR Death Simulation

They say great art should invoke an emotional response, but many feel Australian artist, Shaun Gladwell's newest exhibit may be going a bit too far.

The unusual VR simulation seeks to offer participants a realistic simulation of their death, from "cardiac arrest to brain death."

Marcus Crook, a Melbourne local and participant explained his experience of the exhibit via Tik Tok saying, "What happens is you're laying down, the bed vibrates, you flatline. The doctors come over the top of you. You can see yourself in the goggles and they try to revive you—it doesn't work. Then you float up out past them into space and it keeps going."

Apparently, the experience can be so unsettling that procedures are put in place for those that experience anxiety and shock including staff on standby ready to pull participants out at any moment.

Marcus went on to say, "I can see how people would say it causes anxiety and panic. It definitely borderlines that."

For thrill-seekers who are interested, the exhibit runs from now until August at the Melbourne Now art exhibit in Australia.
